Club Risk Assessment

The Inflatables are very light and best carried on one persons shoulder.

The only way to drain water from these inflatables is to turn them completely upside down and lay them flat.  If they get water in them when you are out the easiest solution is to paddle to the nearest beach or pontoon or slipway.  When you get there get out and turn them over.

Here is a video clip of someone emptying the inflatable in deep water.  First they try to swamp it, two rescues are shown with a towline being used the second time.

Inflatables -  emptying techniques for deep water

Note that you can empty the boat unaided.

Note that it is good to keep track of your paddles while you are doing this in deep water.

If you have an ordinary kayak with you they can assist in various ways:

rounding up your paddles if they float off

attaching a towline to stop you drifting while you are emptying the inflatable

they could also act as a stepping stone for people struggling to get back into an inflatable (not shown)
