Each year we do some sea kayaking. It is possible to fit in a tent and all your food for a few days or just do longer day trips. Beaches are surprisingly comfy places to camp, with a nice sea view to wake up to. Sea kayaks go fast - shorter kayaks cannot keep up with them.  We have just been successful raising funds to buy some sea kayaks for the club.

Our most ambitious sea kayak trip so far saw a group of us paddle from Dartmouth all the way to Looe (yes that's in Cornwall folks), with three nights camping on the way.

Below we are seen going round the Eddystone Lighthouse, a challenging paddle organised by Ian. We started from Plymouth and were supported by a yacht and a rib. The lighthouse is 12 miles out to sea so it is quite a trip, about 8 hours paddling there and back. Naturally we take VHF and flares on major trips of this kind, handheld waterproof VHFs are excellent and mean we can inform the coastguard of our movements and raise the alarm if needed.
